Foxwood Lodge

At Hapton, Bondcare Group we have successfully operated the Glynn Living, our award winning community mental health residential home in Wakefield which provides short term and long term residential care for working age adults leaving inpatient settings or long hospital stays. The Glynn Living had significant success in supporting people to move away from legal framework, take responsibility over their mental health recovery and managing risk behaviour and successfully moving on from Glynn Living either into their own homes without support or within our step down community services with minimal support.

We have seen over eight people within 18 months successfully transition and move on from Glynn Living, some of which have gone on to take on full time paid employment, return to education, family homes and even in one case, go on holiday to Amsterdam with support after joining the service with 2-1 arms reach support due to risk and now successfully publishing two novels around child mental health.

Since the success of the Glynn Living we wanted to provide a second service that can provide the same high quality care and support to provide wider support to people within the Wakefield District. We found a former guest house on the outskirts of Wakefield which we have converted into a similar residential model to Glynn Living and we have named this Foxwood Lodge.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE?

Foxwood Lodge provides a 12 bedded DBT informed therapeutic setting for people who may be experiencing mental health needs or suffering a mental health crisis at risk of hospital admission, Foxwood lodge will also work to support people moving on from long hospital stays or inpatient stays under the mental health act.

MY KEY MY LIFE

What is My Key My Life? It is a 12-18 month programme to develop an individuals skills to successfully transition into their very own home via WDH or another housing company while supporting them with their recovery. We like to celebrate individuals’ success and achievements throughout your time at Hapton and really help you on your journey!

HOW DOES IT LOOK?

Foxwood Lodge has twelve large spacious bedrooms with en suite shower room and bathroom, communal lounge and dining experience with our conservatory overlooking our naturistic and beautiful land.

Foxwood Lodge has two pods on our land in the garden area, one which acts as a sensory area/relaxation area for individuals who may want a less stimulating environment away from the main building, a onsite Gym area for people to exercise and focus on Yoga and other fitness sessions.

Foxwood has a shared kitchen and laundry space with high levels of skilled and trained support workers providing 1-1 or greater levels of supporting depending on the pre assessment completed. Foxwood Lodge has two acres of land enclosed that offers people nature walks, garden and outdoor based activities within a safe environment.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER…

Some of the bedrooms at Foxwood have doors to enter into our garden so people do not have to enter the home through the main door, if this can appear overwhelming at times and have large spacious (studio flat) like set ups without kitchen facilities.

Each bedroom includes a large double bed, wardrobe, bedside table and is furnished to a high standard, however our skilled maintenance team will decorate and tailor the enviroment to the wishes of the people accessing the room or service at any time.

The home sits in a small village called Carlton, which is local to the busy village of Rothwell, Leeds City Centre and Wakefield Town Centre.

AMENITIES

Walks into the local village is encouraged with local shops, small businesses and plenty of opportunities to slowly integrate people back into the community in a safe way.

There are central transport links via bus towards both Wakefield and Leeds providing more opportunities to travel.

OUR COMMUNITY BED

The community bed, here at Foxwood Lodge, is a therapeutic placement working alongside the Intensive Home-Based Treatment Team (IHBT) at Southwest Yorkshire Foundation Trust (SWYFT) .

We can provide:

• Assessment
• Treatment
• Therapeutic Support

This is all here to support these individuals when they feel they are in a mental health crisis.

OUR MUSIC CORNER

We have set up our very own music corner for people to relax and have some therapeutic time listening to music with our new record player! Individuals can also play their instruments!

OUR CARE MODEL

Our model of care and support at Foxwood Lodge is based upon people taking ownership and responsibility over their mental health recovery and journey through a number of processes we provide at the service:

• WRAP Recovery Plans
• Independent Living and Learning Skills
• Keeping Safe Plans and Advanced Wishes Support Plans – Crisis prevention
• DBT informed approaches to care and support
• PBS informed approaches to care and support within the placement
• 24/7 access to community mental health services and support due to exceptional links with our community mental health services and teams.

ADMISSION CRITERIA

Foxwood Lodge provides long term accommodation for adults suffering a variety of long-term mental health problems.

These could be:

• Personality Disorder
• Schizophrenia
• ABI
• Organic Dementia, Dementia with behaviours which challenge
• Drug and Alcohol Misuse
• Mood Disorders
• Mental Illness
• Emotional, Social and Behavioural Difficulties
• People who may require intensive support and have suffered numerous placement breakdowns due to presenting with high-risk behaviours
• Bipolar Disorder
• Step down and long-term aftercare for male and females leaving psychiatric care who require a community placement.
